A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Sunday People, Manchester United have rejected approaches from Newcastle United and Inter Milan for their midfielder Michael Carrick.

The England international has played a vital role for United for many years now, and his absence at times last season proved just how effective he remains. But with the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin there is suddenly increased competition for a starting spot in that area.

However, that does not mean Carrick is moving on and it is being reported that United manager Louis van Gaal told Ed Woodward to reject the approaches for the 33-year-old as he remains integral to his plans.

In other news, the Sun reports that Paris Saint-German manager Laurent Blanc has refused to rule out a move for United’s club-record signing Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine international only arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid last summer but after a disappointing campaign he could be moving on.

Blanc confirmed there is a “good possibility” will be wearing a PSG shirt before the summer is through.
