Liverpool transfer news: Sissoko move unlikely and Leicester join Lambert race

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool...

The Daily Star has thrown Liverpool’s name back into the proverbial ring in the chase for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The latest report claims Liverpool and Chelsea have received a boost after claims of an offer from Tottenham Hotspur proved unfounded.

The Star claims Liverpool remain interested in the Frenchman but that they are less likely to move for Sissoko than Chelsea, considering that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has just spent big on Christian Benteke.

When you consider Liverpool’s summer spending to date they may well be reining things in now, especially when you consider they have already strengthened their midfield with the signings of James Milner and Roberto Firmino.

In other news, the Daily Mail claims Leicester City are the latest club to show an interest in Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert.

The former Southampton man had a disappointing debut campaign at Anfield and with Benteke and Danny Ings both arriving the England international will struggle for game-time.

The latest report claims Leicester have expressed their interest but with Liverpool hoping to recoup their initial £4.5million outlay it remains to be seen if the Foxes will make a concrete bid.
