Aston Villa are reportedly on the verge of signing another player.
Assuming the 23-year-old does sign he will be the third arrival from Ligue 1 in quick succession, following in the footsteps of Jordan Amavi and Idrissa Gueye who both completed their deals last week.
The L’Equipe report claims Ayew has agreed a five-year contract and that he will cost Villa a fee in the region of £8.4million plus add-ons.
Ayew played 33 matches for Lorient last season scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in the process. He previously turned out for Marseille, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists in 147 matches.
Still only 23, the Ghana international is another exciting addition to a Villa side that will look markedly different to the one that finished last season.
Predominantly a striker, Ayew will be tasked with replacing the goals lost following Christian Benteke’s big-money move to Liverpool, although he can also play on either flank so he is a versatile option for Sherwood to have at his disposal.
