Former AC Milan team-mate Giampaolo Pazzini wishes Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli all the best

The Italian striker played with the Liverpool man at the San Siro for 18 months.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has received some support from a former AC Milan team-mate this weekend, as striker Giampaolo Pazzini has been speaking in glowing terms of the Italian.

Pazzini recently joined Hellas Verona and is hoping for a productive campaign in Serie A this season.

The former Milan team-mate played with Balotelli during his 18-month stint with the Rossoneri and is quoted by Calcio News 24 as wishing the Liverpool striker all the best for the upcoming campaign:

"I wish Balotelli both joy and confidence. He has the qualities, he is a real player."

Balotelli arrived from Milan last summer for a fee reported by the BBC to have been in the £16 million region last summer.

He has struggled for form at Anfield. He scored just four goals in 28 games for the club last term, including just one in the Premier League.

He also struggled with fitness and his attitude on the pitch did not endear him to The Kop.

Now he could very well be the club’s fifth-choice striker.

Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge along with new arrivals Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke in the striking department.

Balotelli therefore seems to have very limited opportunities to play regular first-team football for Liverpool next term.

Pazzini might just be coming up against his old friend in Serie A next term.
