The new captain says the outlook is positive after a summer of freshening things up at anfield.
That disappointing season came after Luis Suarez had very nearly inspired the side to the Premier League title the year before only for them to beaten to the trophy by Manchester City.
And Henderson says the disappointment of last season will inspire them to do better next year.
"You've got to put it [the disappointment] to bed but in the back of your mind it's always there," he told liverpoolfc.com.
"I think that's a good thing because we always want to try and improve and we will use it to want to do better. So even though last season was a disappointing one for us we can still use that going forward for this season in a positive way."
Positive vibes thanks to fresh faces at Anfield
The new captain also admits he and the rest of the side have already discussed what happened last term and are keen to improve. There has been a big shake up at Anfield this summer, with Brendan Rodgers having overseen a complete overhaul of his backroom staff.
There has also been a similar change in personnel with the playing staff, with the manager having brought in a whole host of summer recruits, big-money signings Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke chief among them. And Henderson says those changes have freshened things up at the club.
"We've obviously talked about the problems that we had last season," he added.
"We are working on it in pre-season and obviously try different things but it's been freshened up as well with the new staff and some new players. I think that's really freshened us up and like I say everything is looking positive so far."
