Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Walsall in the annual summer friendly at Banks's Stadium.
It was a day to remember for Aston Villa academy product Callum Robinson, who scored his first ever goal for the club. The 20-year-old was evidently content with his display against the club's local rivals and he expressed this emotion as he took to Twitter to thanks the fans for their support.
Robinson made his mark after just 20 minutes when he control the ball inside the box from Libor Kozak's cross, before firing past Walsall 'keeper Neil Etheridge.
However, it simply wasn't to be for Tim Sherwood's side, as the Saddlers hit-back just before half-time with Anthony Forde’s free-kick taking a deflection before nestling into the back of the Villains net.
So happy to score my first goal for villa today ☺️ hopefully more in the future ! Thanks to all the fans who made it down there! #utv— Callum Robinson (@CallumRobbo37) July 25, 2015
