Newcastle United look like doing plenty of business with Anderlecht this summer, but why not make it a hat-trick of signings?
Newcastle United have impressed in the summer transfer window to date, bringing in Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven and Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht.
The Belgian side look set to do more business with the Magpies with centre-back Chancel Mbemba currently in Newcastle awaiting the completion of his own move according to a report from Chronicle Live.
But what chance Newcastle making it is hat-trick of signings from Anderlecht? After all, the two sides have clearly built up an effective working relationship and there is another player who would be a wonderful addition to Steve McClaren’s side.
Dennis Praet is an attacking midfielder who has spent his entire senior career at Anderlecht, featuring 132 times in the process.
In that time he has scored 21 goals and provided 30 assists and he is now regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in Europe.
With a contract until the summer of 2017 he will not come cheap, but he would be a smart long-term investment and a player who could blossom playing in behind Mitrovic at St James’ Park.
Newcastle are aiming high with their transfer business and have been rewarded for their ambition – the signing of the brilliant Mitrovic the perfect example.
And with Remy Cabella failing to hit the heights since his move from Montpellier, Praet could add the assists and the creativity the Frenchman has simply failed to bring.
Of course Wijnaldum is expected to play centrally more often than not, but Praet’s versatility – he can also play on either wing – suggests a cheeky bid from Newcastle would not go amiss.
