The West Ham United player has no intention of being a sub next season, so what do Hammers fans think about that?
West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has told the Sun that he has no intention of spending the majority of the upcoming season on the substitutes’ bench and his comments have prompted some telling responses from Hammers fans.
Nolan has long divided opinion at Upton Park and when you consider he is now 33, in the final year of his contract and has seen a number of quality additions arrive at the club this summer, it would be no surprise to see him move on.
Nolan played 33 matches for West Ham last season and he has featured 154 times for them in total since arriving from Newcastle United.
In that time he has scored 31 goals and provided 18 assists but with Sam Allardyce no longer at the club and exciting younger players joining new boss Slaven Bilic questions will be asked about Nolan’s future.
Speaking to the Sun, Nolan said, “I’ve made it known that I don’t want to be sitting on the bench. I want to be playing and giving my all in training.
“If that’s good enough, great, if not we’ll have to sit down and find out where we go from there.”
Following the player’s comments a number of West Ham fans took to Twitter to have their say and you can read a selection of comments below:
