West Brom reportedly confident of transfer progress next week with five players linked

West Brom - The Hawthorns

Could West Bromwich Albion fans be about to see an influx of new players?

According to a report from the Express & Star West Bromwich Albion are hoping to make substantial progress with a series of potential transfers in the coming days.

Up until now Tony Pulis’s side have only signed James McClean from Wigan Athletic and the report claims the club are well aware of the frustrations being felt by their supporters at their lack of activity.

It goes on to claim that West Brom are confident of making progress in the next week with moves for the likes of Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert and former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby moving along nicely.

It is also claimed that West Brom have not given up hope of signing Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips and Nottingham Forest wide-man Michail Antonio while Borussia Dortmund’s Adrian Ramos also remains on the club’s wish list.

So could West Brom fans see five new players arriving at The Hawthorns in the next week? That is highly unlikely, with one winger from Phillips and Antonio the most likely outcome given the significant outlay it would take to land both.

Ramos is also an expensive if exciting option while Lambert may be tempted to move on having failed to replicate his best form since signing for Liverpool last summer.

He may have supported them as a boy, but having seen Danny Ings and Christian Benteke arrive in recent times Lambert will know his first-team chances have just suffered another significant blow.

Diaby is a risk but it is one that could pay huge dividends if the French midfielder stays fit…a big ask when you consider his recent injury record.
