The defender says the competition is the perfect opportunity for youngsters to prove their worth.
The young right back made his debut for the side in the game against Benfica, with an impressive performance in a 5-1 win over the Portuguese side.
That performance made everyone aware of his abilities, with last season proving a breakthrough one for him as he replaced an injured Mathieu Debuchy halfway through the campaign and did not look out of place in the side. And he says that pre-season game against Benfica was one of the turning points of his career.
“It was probably one of the games that was a real turning point of my career,” he told arsenal.com.
“It was a great experience, against a great team and the whole side put in a really good performance. It was the game that gave me the chance to prove myself, and show everyone what I could do.”
A chance for the youngsters to prove their worth
The Gunners have given several youngsters their chance to impress in pre-season so far, with Chuba Akpom arguably the one who has shined the most.
The forward managed to bag a hat-trick against a Singapore XI side in the Barclays Asia Trophy, with him likely hoping it will put him in contention for further game time this season.
And Bellerin says the Emirates Cup is another opportunity for the young player to prove their worth, while the quality of the opposition will allow everyone get their fitness back.
“The Emirates Cup is a good chance for young players to prove themselves,” he added.
“We are playing against really good teams again. It's a good chance to get the fitness back as well, and to feel competition as well. It will be two hard games, which is what you look for before the season starts.”
