The midfielder is available on a free after being released by Arsenal.
The midfielder was released by the Gunners at the end of last season after an injury ravaged spell saw his game time severely limited.
At 29 years old though he has much to offer should he be able to maintain his fitness, and a number of clubs would be interested in his signature should the deal represent good value.
One of those are West Brom, with Sky Sports reporting that Diaby had a medical with Tony Pulis’ side, which is obviously a long process given his injury record.
However, they will face competition from Marseille according to L’Equipe, with it claiming that they have had contact with his representatives for several weeks and them proposing a salary that would be boosted by bonuses based on appearances.
Where would Diaby prefer?
It’s hard to decide where Diaby would prefer, given that both a return to France and a stay in the Premier League are likely to appeal to him.
While West Brom are not likely to challenge as Arsenal do, it’s fair to say Diaby will still fancy proving he can do it in England after such a disastrous time with the Gunners.
In contrast, a return to France may be more appealing given the injury hit time in England, with it being a good opportunity to reinvent himself back in his homeland.
