Former Tottenham and England midfielder Paul Gascoigne has expressed regret over leaving the north London side too early.
Gascoigne departed White Hart Lane for Lazio in 1992 after four years with the club. Looking back on Twitter, however, the 48-year-old says he had a 'fantastic' time with Tottenham and feels he left too early.
'Gazza' went on to turn out for the likes of Rangers, Middlesbrough, Everton and more post-Lazio but is fondly remembered for his time at Spurs, as well as at Newcastle United. The former midfielder is, of course, almost a mythological on-pitch figure in terms of what he did for England. Club level, though, certainly saw Gascoigne shine, too.
Rafael van der Vaart recently expressed his regret at leaving Tottenham, telling the Daily Mirror it was one of the 'most stupid' decisions of his career.
And Gascoigne's tweet, though keeping it short and sweet, hints at a similar idea. Could the 48-year-old have achieved far more with Spurs had he stayed with the club longer?
It seems plenty wish they could have stayed at White Hart Lane just a little longer.
