Liverpool transfer news: Balotelli offered unlikely escape route; Reds fail in Medel enquiry

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

According to a report from the Mirror, Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been offered the chance to rebuild his career with Italian third division side Lupa Castelli.

The Italian international has flattered to deceive since he arrived at Anfield last summer and with Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino all arriving at Liverpool recently Balotelli’s chances of featuring have now been severely limited.

That has prompted the honorary president of Lupa Castelli, Marco Amelia, to invite the player to sign for them.

It is hugely unlikely but you have to admire the confidence of the Italian club in their attempt to steal a march on the huge clubs likely to be interested in Balotelli if and when he does leave England.

In other news, Sport Mediaset report that Liverpool have failed in their attempt to sign Gary Medel from Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old Chile international was once on the books at Cardiff City but has since moved to Inter where he has a contract until the summer of 2018.

The latest report claims that while Liverpool have expressed an interest in the defensive midfielder the Serie A side have said he is not for sale.
