Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Alberto Moreno's performance v Malaysia

Alberto Moreno playing for Sevilla

Alberto Moreno was in action for Liverpool against Malaysia XI.

Alberto Moreno made his first start of Liverpool's pre-season campaign, in their latest friendly match against a Malaysia XI.

The left-back also faced a tall order, taking the place of new signing Joe Gomez, who had earned rave reviews from fans for his impressive performances.

Moreno may have lacked the surprise factor of Gomez, or even have been quite as effective, but his performance was one which showed signs of promise.

In fact the main gripes with his display from fans seemed to focus on manager Brendan Rodgers' tactics, and a poor left sided pairing of Moreno and Lallana in terms of them complementing one another.

While Nathaniel Clyne appears to have the right-back spot sewn up ahead of the season opener, Joe Gomez's performances have put Moreno under a little pressure this pre-season to remain error free.

That was not always the case last season, Moreno's debut Premier League campaign after his move from Sevilla, with his attacking instincts showing, the defensive side of his game, particularly positioning, was exposed at times.

He did his job effectively enough in the 1-1 draw yesterday, and even looked to be taking Clyne's lead at times in terms of keeping the defensive line. The Spaniard has plenty to prove, but will be glad to get back to first team action.

Here is a look at how supporters reacted to his performance...
