Iago Falque has told Forza Roma that he never felt comfortable at Tottenham Hotspur and his time in London was the hardest of his career.
The 25-year-old, who recently joined Roma from Genoa, was open about the reasons he didn't succeed at Tottenham and why his performances in Italy are in stark contrast to those in London.
"I’m not one of those who puts the blame on others,’’ said Falque. ‘"I look to myself.
"In England, it was funny because I did not feel confident and that affects a lot about the condition in which I played."
When asked about his time in London in further detail, he added: ‘"[I spent] a year and a half [there]. The most difficult period of my career."
Will Falque make a name for himself at Roma?
The La Masia product has spent time at eight different clubs - Barcelona, Juventus, Villarreal, Tottenham, Southampton, Almeria, Rayo Vallecano and Genoa - so will be looking to settle down in Roma and make it a home for himself.
He enjoyed a good season with Genoa in the last campaign, which has earned him a very good move to Serie A title contenders Roma ahead of the coming season.
If he is to make a name for himself at Roma, he will need to show once and for all that he is a player that can play at the very top level after years of flattering to deceive.
Roma will be hoping to capitalise on the Juventus exodus next season and win the title for the first time since 2001.
