Here is how Arsenal will line up for this afternoon’s match against Lyon:
Arsenal starting XI: Martinez, Debuchy, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Ozil, Giroud, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Coquelin, Iwobi
Arsenal subs: Gabriel, Arteta, Walcott, Monreal, Cazorla, Chambers, Bellerin, Akpom, Cech, Hayden, Reine-Adelaide
Arsenal take on Lyon in the Emirates Cup this afternoon with the Gunners already in possession of one piece of pre-season silverware.
Arsene Wenger’s side won the Asia Trophy earlier this month when they defeated a Singapore Select XI in the semi-final and Everton in the final, and now they come up against the Ligue 1 side before facing German club Wolfsburg 24 hours later.
Arsenal then take on Chelsea in the Community Shield before their Premier League campaign kicks off the following weekend against West Ham United.
So far this summer Arsenal have only made one addition to their playing squad, but what an addition it was.
Petr Cech is the goalkeeper the Gunners have been crying out for and he really could be the difference between success and failure next season and beyond.
Wenger may yet pull another rabbit out of his proverbial hat before the transfer window slams shut but whatever happens, expect Arsenal to be there or thereabouts in the race for the title.
