Reported Tottenham target Moussa Sissoko once mentioned Arsenal and dream in same sentence

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United this summer.

Foot Mercato claimed on Friday morning that Spurs had made a formal approach for the France international midfielder, but The Chronicle later reported that no such offer has been received by Newcastle.

There is no smoke without fire, and it will be interesting to see how this story develops over the coming days.

While Sissoko would be a good signing for Tottenham, fans of the North London club should be aware that back when he was a kid, the Frenchman yearned to play for their bitter rivals Arsenal.

Back in February of this year, The Daily Mail quoted the 25-year-old as saying: “Arsenal made me dream when I was a youngster. Patrick Vieira was my idol. I saw myself in him.”

It will be interesting to see how Spurs fans receive Sissoko if he does sign for them this summer.

While it is clear that the former Toulouse star was enchanted by the football produced by Arsenal in the early noughties, that was a long time ago when he was growing up.
