Report: Tottenham Hotspur have not made offer for Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko

The French press reported differently this morning, but Newcastle must still beware Sissoko interest.

This morning it was reported in several sources in France that Tottenham Hotspur had made a move for Newcastle United star Moussa Sissoko.

A report from Foot Mercato claimed that Spurs had made a formal approach for the French international, as they look to revamp a squad that struggled to maintain consistency throughout the 2014-15 campaign.

Despite the French reports however it is now believed no such approach has currently been lodged, according to The Chronicle.

They claim that there has been ‘no offer’ from Tottenham for the player at this time. They also make it clear that Steve McLaren has no intention of selling one of his prized assets. Newcastle are looking to push on this season after almost suffering relegation in 2014-15 and McClaren does not want any of his star men to depart.

Should Toon fans rest easy?

Of course not.

Throughout their troubles Sissoko has always looked an inspiring and swashbuckling talent who could set foot in nearly any Premier League club.

Tottenham want a touch more dynamism in the midfield area. At the moment the club does not have the marauding midfielder they require to force their way into the top four, Sissoko could be that man.

So a bid may still be just around the corner from Spurs but, at least for now, it would appear no approach has been made.
