Report: Recently let go by Liverpool, Javier Manquillo is all set to join French giants today

The Spaniard is set to join either Bordeaux or Marseille later today.

Earlier this month Liverpool decided to end the two-year loan spell of Spaniard Javier Manquillo at the halfway point after the player failed to make a significant impact at the club.

Now it looks as though he will be plying his trade in France next season. The Spaniard is set to be loaned out by Atletico again this season, with Ligue 1 seemingly the destination.

Which club in France however still remains a mystery.

Manquillo is believed to have travelled to the south of France to complete his move, with two of the south’s powerhouses keen – Bordeaux and Marseille.

Inside Spanish Football are reporting that he will be joining Bordeaux. They claim he will sign a season long loan deal at the club after he completes a medical today.

L’Equipe in France however believe differently. They claim he has arrived in France today in order to finalise a move to join Olympique Marseille for the season.

Last summer Liverpool snapped up the talented and versatile full-back as cover for something of a problem position at the club.

However he struggled to adjust to English football. He featured in just 19 games for Liverpool. His final game against Besiktas came in February and he struggled in Turkey as Liverpool were dumped out of the Europa League.

He did not play for the club again.

Now Manquillo will be hoping to be a hit in France, wherever he ends up, so he can prove to Liverpool they were wrong to let him go.
