Liverpool were in action in the fourth instalment of their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia against a Malaysia XI side.

Liverpool have had a pretty successful pre-season campaign up until now. A 4-0 win in Thailand has been followed up by 2-1 and 2-0 wins against Brisbane and Adelaide respectively as they prepare for their Premier League campaign, and they were looking to maintain their 100% record on Friday.

Things didn't go according to plan for the Reds, however, against a Malaysia XI as Patrick Ronaldinho fired the hosts into an early lead after some poor defending by both Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren.

Jordon Ibe levelled for the Reds on the half-hour mark when he cut inside from the right flank and flashed the ball in at the near post with his left foot to prevent Liverpool from any real embarrassment going into the half-time break.

Lovren had a whole host of chances to get on the scoresheet, while Adam Lallana struck the bar and Divock Origi ought to have got on the scoresheet, but Liverpool could not find a winner.

There are still concerning issues at both ends of the field for the Reds, but there was not so much  emphasis placed on winning this particular game, with manager Brendan Rodgers allowing a few youngsters to get some important minutes under their respective belts towards the end of the contest.
