Alex McCarthy has left Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers for Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the transfer of Alex McCarthy.

The goalkeeper has joined Premier League outfit Palace from Championship side QPR on a four-year contract.

McCarthy is the Eagles’ third signing of the summer so far following the recruitment of France international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain and England Under-21 international striker Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old moved to QPR from Reading in the summer of 2014, but he endured a largely frustrating season.

Not only did Rangers go straight back down to the Championship, but the 25-year-old also struggled to play regularly.

McCarthy could make just three appearances in the Premier League last season, making an average of 2.67 saves per game and 1.33 saves per goal.

Following the transfer of McCarthy, Palace and QPR fans took to Twitter to have their say.
