Bitton suggests the most important thing for Celtic over coming weeks

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has stressed the importance of the club excelling in a specific area in the next couple of weeks.

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has told the Glasgow Evening Times that the most important thing for the football club is ensuring qualification into the Champions League.

Celtic moved a step closer to the group stage earlier this week with a 6-1 win over two legs against FC Stjarnan.

The team appears to be in very good attacking form, which will create a confidence ahead of the next European challenge and the Israeli midfielder has his eyes fixed firmly on the Champions League prize in front of the club.

“The Champions League is the most important thing for us – we want these unbelievable moments at Celtic Park,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.

“There are no easy games, we have to be prepared and we have to go through to the play-off round.”

Celtic are a team that all clubs will want to avoid

Celtic should have enough quality and experience to ensure that they make it through to the group stage, where they will take the shape of a team that every side wants to avoid.

As Bitton hints at, Celtic can be a very atmospheric place to go on a big European night, with the might of Barcelona finding out how difficult it can be to get a result at Parkhead in the recent past.

It’s the job of the players and manager Ronny Deila to whip up some excitement and get the fans loud and passionate about supporting the side in Europe.

There are going to be matches in the competition where Celtic have a quality disadvantage and they need to rely on the small things to help them level the playing field.
