A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.
Arsenal director Lord Harris has been quoted by the Daily Express, claiming that the club have up to £200 million to spend this summer.
Arsenal’s financial strength is quite clear and the director claims Arsene Wenger could go out and sign any player he wants.
So far, Arsenal’s best transfer of the summer has been the £11 million acquisition of Petr Cech from Chelsea.
“We could go into the market and probably buy any player in the world, apart from half a dozen who are un-buyable. In the accounts, there's over £200million in the bank,” he said.
The Daily Express has reported that Turkish club Besiktas are considering a move for Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.
Welbeck joined the North Londoners on a deal last summer, when he arrived from Manchester United late into the transfer window.
He struggled to produce the consistency needed after a very good start to his career with the Gunners.
Lord Harris has also been quoted by the Daily Star, explaining why he was happy the club didn’t sign Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.
Sterling recently completed a move to Manchester City which was worth just under £50 million to the Anfield club.
Lord Harris has explained that he was not encouraged by the way the player treated Liverpool throughout the whole process.
“They were looking at him and the way he treated Liverpool wasn’t good,” he said.
