Alex McCarthy has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at joining Crystal Palace.
The goalkeeper has joined the Premier League outfit from Championship side Queens Park Rangers on a four-year contract.
McCarthy is the Eagles’ third signing of the summer so far following the recruitment of France international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain and England Under-21 international striker Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
The 25-year-old is delighted to have signed for Palace and also has positive remarks about QPR on Twitter.
Absolutely delighted to have signed for @CPFC. Massive club with huge ambition. Can't wait to get the season started now!— Alex McCarthy (@Alex_Macca23) July 23, 2015
Just want to thank all the @qprfc fans for their support last season. I loved my time there and wish the club all the best for next season!— Alex McCarthy (@Alex_Macca23) July 23, 2015
Alex McCarthy’s QPR struggles
McCarthy moved to QPR from Reading in the summer of 2014, but he endured a largely frustrating season.
Not only did Rangers go straight back down to the Championship, but the 25-year-old also struggled to play regularly.
McCarthy could make just three appearances in the Premier League last season, making an average of 2.67 saves per game and 1.33 saves per goal.
