Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Alan Brazil explained on his breakfast show for talkSPORT that he wants to see Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere go injury free for the coming season.
Wilshere missed a large chunk of the last campaign after picking up another ankle problem in the Premier League defeat against Manchester United.
However, he recovered to play a part in the end of the season for the Gunners before excelling with the England national side in the two games after the end of the Premier League.
“I’d love to see Jack go injury free for most of the season, to play regularly,” he said on talkSPORT.
What are Wilshere’s chances of avoiding injury?
They’re good providing he handles himself through pre-season effectively and trains in the right way once the intensity of the action hots up.
He’s also got to be sensible in terms of the way he avoids big games, not being so willing to dive into challenges which could leave him suffering with a knock as a result.
He also needs a little bit of luck because all player are vulnerable to picking up problems due to things happening during games over which they have no control.
Will he be first choice for Arsenal?
He may not start the season as a first choice player in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.
The boss already has some good central options, but it’s important that Wilshere is ready to take his chance and show why he should start when the opportunities come along.
He’s got to stay mentally strong because considering his recent form, he may feel aggrieved if he’s playing from the bench.
