Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has no intentions of leaving the club this summer amid speculation over his future, his agent Karim Djaziri has told Spanish publication AS.
Benzema’s popularity among supporters at the Emirates Stadium is evident, with former top scorer Ian Wright urging the club’s chiefs to seal a deal for the Real Madrid man via Twitter.
However, prizing him away from the Spanish capital seems an increasingly difficult task with his agent confirming on Friday that Benzema has no intentions of leaving the club.
“Karim Benzema is happy at Real Madrid, he is not looking to move this summer. I’m 100% certain nothing will happen from now until August, when the transfer window closes,” Djaziri told AS.
Alternatives for Arsenal
With Arsenal ideally needing strong competition for centre-forward Olivier Giroud, there are other options out there, with director Lord Harris telling Sky Sports that spending money is not an issue.
As per that Sky Sports report, the likes of Edinson Cavani, Gonzalo Higuain and Robert Lewandowski have been pinpointed as potential big-money possibilities.
However, arguably the most naturally fitting Giroud alternative is Lyon scorer Alexandre Lacazette, considering his age, style of play and current employers.
The 24-year-old notched 31 goals in all competitions last season. He is ready for a big move away from France, and as he is yet to sign a new contract the club, perhaps he knows the time to move is now.
