Lukas Podolski Pre FA Cup Press Conference

The German international netted a cool finish after a mistake in the Celta Vigo defence.

This summer Arsenal allowed Lukas Podolski to leave the club permanently after three years in North London.

The Germany international, who has 125 caps and a World Cup winners’ medal for his country, arrived at Arsenal in 2012 from FC Koln and soon established himself as a fan favourite. His persona off the field with Arsenal fans was always welcoming, which established him as one of the more popular members of the Arsenal first-team.

He was also popular in the dressing room. The joker of the group, Arsenal players were surely sad to see him leave as well.

After a first season in which he played 42 times and scored 16 goals his playing time diminished over the next two seasons.

With Arsene Wenger struggling to find a place for him in the Arsenal starting XI he left on loan for Inter Milan in the winter and this summer headed to Turkey to join Galatasaray.

Last night proved to be a happy occasion for the player, as he scored his first goal for his new club. He capitalised on a mistake by Spanish side Celta Vigo to show off his as ever clinical finishing during a 2-1 victory.

Arsenal fans know that this summer it was about time he left The Emirates and will undoubtedly wish him all the best during his Turkish adventure. Hopefully this goal is just the first of many.
