A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Tottenham are to step up their interest in West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

West Brom, however, are prepared to double the wages of the forward in an attempt to keep the 21-year-old at The Hawthorns.

ESPN also report that Spurs are preparing a bid for the forward, and that West Brom will find it hard to turn down a sizeable offer if they can't agree a new contract with the player.

The Daily Mail also reports that Emmanuel Adebayor is attracting the interest of Aston Villa, and that chairman Daniel Levy could soften his stance in order to ensure the £100,000 per week striker will leave this summer.

Villa want the player initially on loan, when it has been said that Spurs in the past have demanded a £5 million fee for the forward, while the report also seems to offer hope for another forward to stay at White Hart Lane in Roberto Soldado.

Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs have rivals in the chase for Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie saying they, along with West Ham United and Aston Villa, have made enquiries for the player.

Away from transfers, Nabil Bentaleb has given an update on the side's pre-season campaign to the official Tottenham website.

So far Tottenham have overcome Brentford, Reading and Southend during their preparations for the new season, and he believes things are going well for the team.

He said: “We’ve played three games now, we’ve played some good football and we’re getting fitter and fitter as we get ever closer to the start of the season.

“The teams we’ve played all wanted to prove something against us, they wanted to beat us and that makes it tough.”
