The former Arsenal midfielder could be set for a surprise move to West Brom.
The injury-hit midfielder is currently a free agent, having left Arsenal at the end of last season at the end of his contract.
Tony Pulis is keen to add experience to his midfield, and he has been holding talks with the Frenchman, who he believes could be a fantastic acquisition to his side - if able to keep him fit and healthy for the whole campaign.
Diaby is still only 29-years-old, and prior to his injury issues he was considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He scored 19 goals and registered 16 assists in 180 games for the Gunners, but managed only two competitive appearances across the last two seasons.
Would Diaby be a good signing for West Brom?
Whilst a risky move to sign Diaby, if the Baggies could get the best out of him, they would have completed one of the deals of the summer.
An exceptional box-to-box player, he would add drive to a midfield that currently lacks forward movement, and he possesses great leadership qualities.
However, there is always the question regarding his fitness, and his inability to play well in a system devised by Tony Pulis, who likes his teams to be at the peak of their physical abilities.
If able to agree some form of pay-as-you-play deal, then Diaby would be a fantastic signing, otherwise, it would be advised to move for other targets ahead of him.
