Fiorentina are to end negotiations with Tottenham for defender Vlad Chiriches, report Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
The Romanian international is not in Spurs' first team plans, and was reported by Talksport to be the next player heading for the exit.
Tottenham's Europa League conquerors Fiorentina were interested in signing the centre-back, but Tuttomercatoweb report that the asking price is too steep for their liking.
Spurs want £7 million for the 24-year-old, below the £8.5 million they paid in 2013.
Fiorentina were only willing to take the defender on a season long loan deal, and now believe he is heading elsewhere instead, with Galatasaray interested, although the London Evening Standard reported they had an offer of just £3.6 million turned down earlier this month.
It seems clear now that either Spurs over paid for Chiriches, or simply that he has failed to reach his potential, and to that end it is understandable they do not want to take too big a loss on him.
The defender is however only worth as much as teams are willing to pay for him, and so far there are no takers at £7 million.
Tottenham have done well so far this transfer window, selling Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Younes Kaboul, Lewis Holtby and Benjamin Stambouli and netting more than £20 million in return. £7 million for Chiriches however could be a demand too far.
