Liverpool media round-up: Borini and Lambert edge closer to exit after Benteke arrival

A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

Liverpool strikers Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert are expected to leave the club within the next fortnight, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo.

Borini is said to be attracting interest from Fiorentina, with his agent Marco de Marchi confirming that talks have been held with the Serie A club, and he has told the Reds to expect a bid from West Ham United - which has yet to arrivve.

Liverpool accepted bids from both Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers last summer. The Italian decided he wanted to fight for his place at Anfield instead, but he was largely unused for large parts of last season.

Lambert is apparently attracting interest from Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion and is reportedly 'resigned' to leaving his boyhood club after only signing from Southampton last summer.

The Birmingham Mail is reporting that West Brom have held positive talks with Liverpool over Lambert but will have to wait until next week for the transfer to be concluded. It is claimed that the deal could be worth around £3 million.

The Echo's report also suggests Liverpool's chances of selling Mario Balotelli this summer could be 'problematic' due to his £100,000 per week wages.

The striker exits are going to come on the back of Liverpool finally landing their primary forward target in Christian Benteke in a deal worth £32.5 million.

On joining the club, he told the official Liverpool website: "I want to be the best and I want to reach the best of myself.

"I came here to win trophies. I came here to reach some great goals with the team."
