The England international has stated that playing in the heart of the team is his best position.
The England international moved to the Merseyside club on a free transfer recently after his deal at the Etihad Stadium expired.
The Reds are in need of midfield reinforcements following the departure of long serving club legend Steven Gerrard, who has left to join LA Galaxy in the MLS.
Brendan Rodgers has been using Milner in the centre of midfield in pre-season, with suggestions that he and international compatriot Jordan Henderson will be the preferred choice in the boiler room next term.
Milner has stated that playing centrally is his best position and that he is relishing the challenge of featuring there for the Merseyside outfit in 2015-16.
“I’m delighted to be playing in there. I love playing in there,” he is quoted as saying by The Express.
“I think it is best for my attributes. It is where I can play my best football, I think it is my best position.
“I’m already getting goals playing in there. It’s what I can do. I’ve always managed to work hard on my finishing and I feel I can do it and score more goals from there.
“Playing in front of goal gives you more opportunities. It is easier to score being there rather than being wide and shooting across goal and having tough angles.”
Rodgers also has the likes of Joe Allen and Lucas Levia as options in the centre of midfield, while it is Emre Can’s natural position but he has been used as a centre-half of late.
