Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright wants to see a big name signing in his old position this summer.
The Gunners have signed one player so far, managing to land Petr Cech from Chelsea in one of the shrewdest deals of the summer to date.
Beyond that however it has been all rumour and no action, and some fans are getting a little edgy, seeing their rivals like Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all making big plays in the transfer market.
One of the biggest names Arsenal have been linked to is Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The Sun reported a week ago the Gunners were plotting a £40 million move for the French international, but there has been no noteworthy progress.
Wright took to Twitter to call out Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, pleading for him to do a deal for Benzema.
Is Benzema coming or not? Please make it happen Ivan.— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) July 23, 2015
Benzema would have to compete with French colleague Olivier Giroud for a starting spot, but having both players available would be a huge boost to the club's striking options.
Danny Welbeck did not score enough goals last season and is currently missing the start of pre-season with an injury, while it is uncertain how committed Arsene Wenger will be to playing Theo Walcott up front on a regular basis.
As it is, the Gunners look a good bet to finish in the top four once again, but if they really want to push the envelope and put together a serious and sustained title challenge, adding a prolific forward like Benzema can get them closer to their goal.
