Disappointed Tottenham fans blast 'disgraceful' Pochettino decision on Aaron Lennon via Twitter

The decision to relegate Aaron Lennon to train with the under-21s has prompted unhappy responses from Tottenham Hotspur fans, who feel he deserves better.

The news Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has sent Aaron Lennon to train with the under-21 squad has brought about an unhappy response from supporters.

The Mirror report Lennon is being permitted to use the facilities at Hotspur Way, but not join in first team training, as the club attempt to sell him.

The report claims Everton are interested in his signature, but they are not willing to pay Tottenham's £9 million asking price, leaving the winger in limbo.

In the same boat is Emmanuel Adebayor, but his omission is little surprise considering Tottenham's well publicised attempts to sell him.

Lennon however is one of Tottenham's longest serving players, and the general feeling among fans is he deserves to be treated better.

The 28-year-old has 364 appearances for the club to his name after signing from Leeds United nearly a decade ago, scoring 30 goals and providing more than 70 assists.

He has one year left of his Spurs contract remaining, and was loaned to Everton at the end of last season, scoring two goals in 14 appearances.

A move is in his best interests, but Tottenham's asking price is currently preventing this. He is now seen as a former England international, and needs to play regularly if he is to have a chance of adding to his 21 caps.

The reaction from fans suggests Pochettino has made a poor move in his treatment of Lennon, but at the same time there is acknowledgement from some that the entire picture is unclear, and whether behind the scenes discussions have contributed to the situation.
