HITC Sport understands from sources that Blackburn Rovers have rejected a bid in excess of £10 million from Middlesbrough for star striker Jordan Rhodes.
Rhodes' future at Blackburn has been the subject of conjecture for some time with a host of clubs tracking him.
Middlesbrough have held a long-term interest in Rhodes and tried to sign the prolific forward during the loan window in March, with a view to a permanent deal, only for Rovers to resist their overtures.
Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has reignited his interest in Rhodes as he sees the striker as forming a key part in his side's bid for promotion to the Premier League next season.
Rhodes, who has scored 20 or more goals for the past six seasons running, is regarded as one of the deadliest finishers in the country.
Blackburn are reluctant to lose their prized asset, but Middlesbrough are refusing to give up their pursuit of Rhodes.
