The ever popular Italian transfer columnist Gianluca Di Marzio reported to Sky Sports Italia, that Barcelona defender Marc Bartra is almost certain to be joining Napoli in the coming days.
Via his own website, Di Marzio suggested that Napoli may have found the right formula, to lure Bartra away from Barcelona, suggesting talks between intermediaries are taking place. It was also claimed the player has agreed personal terms.
However, the representatives of the 24-year-old Spanish defender, Magic Players, have taken to their official twitter account in direct response to Di Marzio, underlining that their client has absolutely not intentions of leaving the Camp Nou this summer.
.@DiMarzio ,representamos a Marc, la información NO es cierta. Marc NO ha negociado con ningún equipo. Él nunca ha tenido intención de salir— Magic Players (@magicplayers21) July 23, 2015
In no uncertain terms regarding the Barcelona future of their client, Magic Players pointed out to Di Marzio: "We represent Marc, the information is NOT true. Marc HAS NOT negotiated with any other team. He has never had the desire to leave."
Further reports from Sky Sports Italia had even gone so far to suggest a price for Bartra, claiming that Napoli would pay around €12 million for the defender, plus a further €3 million in variables.
Even though Barcelona have also recently denied they want to sell Bartra, speculation has remained ever present. English outlets such as The Express have linked a wealth of Premier League clubs, suggesting Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all shown interest.
Much of the speculation stems from Bartra only making 11 starts in La Liga last season, which lead to a belief the player was looking to engineer a move away from the Camp Nou.
That couldn't be further from the truth, according to the response now, which has come directly from the company representing him, whilst the player focuses on pre-season training for Barcelona and preparations for the 2015-16 season.
