Some of Leeds United's next generation were playing a match of their own on the same night the first-team took on Eintracht Frankfurt.
While Leeds United’s senior stars were playing German side Eintracht Frankfurt in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday some of the club’s younger players were involved in a match of their own against Pickering Town.
The match was the second of five pre-season fixtures for Leeds under-21s and it will give the youngsters a chance not just to impress their coaches at that level but also to remind manager Uwe Rosler of their ability.
The gaffer may be hundreds of miles away, but he is sure to have been paying close attention.
A Steve Morison goal gave Leeds’ first-team the lead against Frankfurt before the Whites ultimately lost 2-1, but it was better news for the under-21s who ran out 4-0 winners.
It was a solid performance and some of the Leeds players were captured in action in photographs posted on Twitter by @mattypetch.
Next up for Leeds under-21s is a clash with Frickley Athletic on Saturday, followed by North Ferriby United next Tuesday and Barrow on 1 August.
