Manchester United transfer news: Llorente linked as mystery striker; Lindegaard may be offered new deal

According to a report from the Mirror, the ‘mystery’ striker Manchester United could sign this summer is Juventus forward Fernando Llorente.

The Spanish international has not had the best of times in Serie A and when you consider his goal-return last season he is not likely to be a signing that will get United fans’ pulses racing.

However, the latest report claims United were offered the 30-year-old and have been asked to be kept informed about his situation.

With Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao leaving Old Trafford in recent weeks the club need a new front-man with only Wayne Rooney, James Wilson and Javier Hernandez to call on for now, but it remains to be see if Llorente is the answer.

In other news, the Daily Star claims United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is ready to do a U-turn regarding his future and remain at the club for the final year of his contract.

United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be impressed with the Dane’s attitude and may even offer him a 12-month extension as a result.

And finally, the Telegraph claims Paris Saint-Germain will step up their pursuit of United winger Angel Di Maria before the Argentine heads out to the USA to join up with his teammates for their pre-season tour.

That means that if the French side get their wish the £59.7million could be their player by the end of the week, given that he is expected to join up with United before their fixture against Barcelona on Saturday.
