Manchester United ahead of Arsenal in most-watched team study

A Sky Sports subscriber study put the Red Devils way ahead of Arsenal, though the Gunners were out in front of Chelsea.

Manchester United remain the most-watched team in the UK, according to a new study from Sky Sports.

A survey of 500,000 subscribers saw the Red Devils come out as the most popular team in some 49 UK regions.

That was some way ahead of Arsenal, who were top in 33 regions, and United’s arch-rivals Liverpool, who were most popular in 21 regions.

Chelsea were left a distant fourth in the countdown, with just eight regions voting the Blues as the most-watched team.

More bizarrely still, the countdown saw Chelsea come out on top in several Scottish regions, including Edinburgh, Motherwell, Dundee, Inverness and Falkirk.

The Blues still fared better than Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, who failed to come out on top in any specific region.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City were voted as the most watched teams from within their respective regions.

As a side note, several southern locations also offered up surprising front-runners for viewership, with Manchester United most popular in Ilford, London and Liverpool out on top in Twickenham.
