Xena: Warrior Princess was one of the most popular shows of the '90s and amid all the other reboots and sequels coming out these days rumours have been rife regarding the series.
It now seems that the rumours have become so widespread that Xena herself, Lucy Lawless (Ash Vs The Evil Dead, Spartacus, Battlestar Galactica), has addressed them and fans will be disappointed with what she had to say.
Speaking to her fans via twitter she said that "News of a Xena reboot is just a rumour" going on to say that it was just "wishful thinking".
Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I'd love it to happen one day but it's still in the wishful thinking stage.— Lucy Lawless (@RealLucyLawless) July 20, 2015
It is no secret that she has expressed her desire to reprise the role and bring the series back in the future and at this year's comic con she even said that she would want original producer and regular collaborator Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman 3, Spartacus) to return as producer.
Xena ran between 1995 and 2001 and is rightly recognised as one of the leading series of the time, along with shows like the X-Files and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Since then Lawless has become a household name, not only starring in several cult series such as Spartacus, Battlestar Galactica and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as well as many big movies including Spiderman 3, Bitch Slap and Gingersnaps.
We are sure that a Xena reboot would be a huge success were it to happen and the thought of Lawless reprising her role is one we can all get behind. Let's hope these rumours eventually become a reality and we can once again revidit the classic series.
