A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Wednesday morning.
Sky reports that the forward is expected to be the seventh, and final, signing of what has been a busy summer at Anfield, with attentions expected to turn to offloading players.
Lambert isn't the only forward expected to depart, with the Independent reporting that Fabio Borini is also expected to depart but there hasn't been a formal offer for the Italian as of yet - though he could command a fee of around £8 million, while Mario Balotelli is expected to leave the club on loan before the window shuts.
Away from transfers, one man looking to make a point ahead during the new season will be the defender Dejan Lovren - who has struggled ever since signing for £20 million from Southampton last summer.
The Liverpool Echo carries quotes from saying that it was not just him who was the culprit of some bad defending last season, saying the whole side as a unit failed to tighten up.
He said: “I wasn’t quiet last season, I just wanted to concentrate on myself. I knew what was happening with how I was playing was not right and I didn’t want to speak about it.
“But it is not Dejan Lovren-Liverpool, you know? I cannot defend all alone. It is 11 players. When we are good, everyone is good.
“When we are bad, everyone is bad, not just me. I think we need to look like this, not just put the pressure on me or point the finger. I don’t agree with this."
