Payet has had a positive impact on Poyet and other West Ham players, after becoming one of Slaven Bilic’s summer signings.
The challenge for the arrival will now be to replicate the form he’s showing in training and pre-season, when the first Premier League game against Arsenal kicks off in a couple of weeks.
“What a player. Some of us had seen him play in the past, for others it was the first time. You can see what he can do,” Poyet told whufc.com.
“You can see what he can do. He’s a great addition to the team and I’m sure he’s going to create a lot of defensive chaos this year.”
The difference for Payet
The main difference that Payet will experience once the more serious action starts coming thick and fast, is that he won’t have as much time or freedom on the ball.
He’s an extremely talented player in West Ham’s team and because of that, he becomes a target for the opposition.
Sides will try and shut him out of games quickly and effectively to make sure that West Ham are on the back foot.
Why Bilic will be pleased
What will please Slaven Bilic is the fact that the player is already inspiring those around him and creating external benefits, which will aid the team this season.
If he inspires all of West Ham’s squad to be the best player they can possibly be, the Hammers have a very good chance of improving on their league position in Sam Allardyce’s final season.
