Christian Benteke has thanked fans after clinching his transfer to Liverpool.
Christian Benteke has thanked Aston Villa fans for their support, after clinching his transfer to Liverpool.
The Belgian international leaves after three seasons at the club, in which he established himself as one of the most explosive and dangerous strikers in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old leaves on good terms, with Villa fans appreciating his talent as potentially being one of Europe's top striker, who wants to test himself at a higher level.
He sent a message to fans via Twitter, after his £32.5 million transfer was completed, as announced by Liverpool's official club website.
I would like to THANK all of you for everything @AVFCOfficial— Bentekechristian (@bentekechris20) July 22, 2015
His departure is in direct contrast to England international Fabian Delph, who sparked outrage among fans by suddenly deciding to quit the club to join Manchester City, just days after pledging his loyalty and intent to stay on as captain.
Delph is not on Twitter and so did not reach out in the same way, but considering the backlash to his move, it's probably for the best.
