Report: Tottenham-linked Michy Batshuayi planning Marseille stay

Marseille Velodrome

Olympique Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi looks set to remain in Ligue One, despite reported interest from the Premier League.

Tottenham look set to be left disappointed after reported target Michy Batshuayi reaffirmed his commitment to current club Marseille, according to Get France Football News.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a Premier League switch this summer, having impressed during his fleeting appearances in Ligue 1 last term.

A report carried by The Express had claimed that Spurs were set to launch a £9 million bid to bring the Belgian to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are thought to be in the market for a goalscorer, having lost patience with the likes of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor.

But the Lilywhites now look unlikely to land Batshuayi, a striker who has already drawn comparisons with current Everton forward and fellow national team star Romelu Lukaku.

According to an exclusive report from Get France Football News, the Marseille striker is keen to remain at the Stade Velodrome for the 2015/16 campaign.

Once with Belgian side Standard Liege, Batshuayi scored 40 goals in 95 league games before heading to France.

Used sparingly during his debut season, with many appearances coming as a substitute, the 21-year-old still managed nine goals in 23 Ligue 1 games.
