Spurs are interested in offering around £6 million for Fiorentina's Josip Ilicic, but have also informed the Serie A side that they would be content to do an exchange deal which involves Vlad Chiriches going the other way.
The Slovenian international was touted as a potential signing earlier this week by the outlet, with the player's Fiorentina future uncertain.
Ilicic scored seven goals in his last nine games of 2014/15, but for much of the campaign was used as a substitute.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Tottenham's proposals have been put to Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa, who is considering his options.
Fiorentina are also like Spurs will soon be, on a pre-season tour of the USA, and Sousa is assessing his squad for the season ahead.
Spurs have been effective at offloading their fringe players this summer, with Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Benjamin Stambouli and Younes Kaboul sold already.
Chiriches is expected to be next on the list, after the Romanian international failed to win over head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
If they were able to land dangerous attacker Vlad Chiriches as part of the deal, it could be a stroke of genius, but whether Fiorentina will bite is another matter.
