Report: Tottenham linked with Robbin Ruiter as potential replacement for Michel Vorm

Vorm could leave Tottenham this summer, and a potential replacement has been linked to the club.

Tottenham are not looking to sell Michel Vorm, but a report in the Telegraph states that he is a transfer target for Ajax, who will look to sign him if Jasper Cillessen leaves the club this summer.

Cillessen has been linked with Manchester United, and the report states that Vorm is one of the targets that Ajax are looking at to replace the Dutch international stopper.

Should Vorm leave White Hart Lane this summer, then the report claims that Tottenham will look to move for FC Utrecht stopper Robbin Ruiter as his replacement.

Although chances of a move will rely upon Vorm leaving the club, Spurs have already started drawing up a shortlist of replacements for their back-up ‘keeper.

Who is Robbin Ruiter?

Ruiter, 28, is a goalkeeper who has played for Eredivisie side FC Utrecht since the summer of 2012. Prior to that, he spent his entire career with Volendam, having progressed through their academy system.

He has featured 106 times for Utrecht, conceding 160 goals and keeping 24 clean sheets, since he arrived at the club.

Although these are statistics which will hardly whet the appetite of any Tottenham fans, Ruiter would prove to be a solid back-up option for Hugo Lloris, and would likely be available for a low fee.

He would not be a marquee signing, but as a replacement for Michel Vorm, there are few options who would be available better than Ruiter.
