Villa snapped up 21-year-old left back Amavi from Nice over the weekend, and France Football even suggested that manager Tim Sherwood could swoop for his former Nice team-mate Alassane Plea.
Now, the Daily Mail suggest Villa are targeting a third player from the French club, with midfielder Nampalys Mendy on the radar.
The loss of Fabian Delph to Manchester City last week has hit Villa hard, and Sherwood needs to find another midfielder in the near future - and Mendy could be that man.
The diminutive midfielder stands at just 5ft 6in tall, but he has earned a reputation as a relentless, hard working, athletic midfielder during his time with Monaco and now Nice.
Having signed Amavi and Lille's Idrissa Gueye, it seems that Sherwood could return to French football for yet another new signing - though Leicester City are also credited with an interest in Mendy.
Villa need somebody to replace the energy and bite that Delph provided in Villa's midfield, and Mendy fits the bill for that role, whilst a partnership with Gueye in midfield would give Villa a strong duo in the middle of the park.
The chance to reunite with former team-mate Amavi could also be appealing to Mendy, with Villa bringing a French revolution to Villa Park this summer.
