Manchester United transfer news: Sergio Romero free transfer link and club deny Muller rumours

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United have dismissed claims they have made a £70million bid for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.

The latest story comes after Sport 1 reported that United had made a €100million bid for the 25-year-old.

That equates to just under £70million and it had been suggested that United manager Louis van Gaal was desperate to bring the German international to Old Trafford.

However, with the club seemingly dismissing the link it seems their search for a new striker to replace Robin van Persie continues.

In other news, the Manchester Evening News reports that United are targeting Argentina international goalkeeper Sergio Romero to replace back-up stopper Victor Valdes.

The 28-year-old is a free agent having left Italian club Sampdoria earlier this summer and having been a part of van Gaal’s side at AZ Alkmaar he is being tipped to reunite with the Dutchman in England.

With 64 caps for his country and time on his side he would be a wonderful addition to United’s squad as cover to David de Gea – and even a potential replacement if the Spaniard moves on.
