The former Liverpool player has made his first appearance since joining Manchester City this summer.
Raheem Sterling’s £49million move from Liverpool to Manchester City is the biggest of the transfer window so far, and living up to that price-tag was always going to be a challenge for the England international.
But Sterling could not have asked for a better start as he scored just three minutes into his City debut in a pre-season friendly against AS Roma on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old scored 11 goals for Liverpool last season and he wasted no time getting his first for his new club, suggesting he could develop a wonderful partnership with the majestic David Silva.
Sterling and Silva played either side of promising young forward Kelechi Iheanacho and it was a joy for City fans to behold.
Sterling still has a very long way to go before he has fully justified City’s substantial outlay, with Liverpool looking like they got the better end of that particular deal for now; but for every goal he scores, he will look increasingly like the player the Blues will be hoping will help fire them to success both domestically and in Europe.
You just know he's gonna be good. Great movement and speed, great on ball, good finishing. Gonna prove a lot wrong Sterling #mcfc— Luke (@lukehills_99) July 21, 2015
