Liverpool may have lost one talented winger but they have another ready to take his place.
The 19-year-old shone in the recent pre-season clash with Adelaide United, setting up the first goal in a 2-0 victory and looking a constant threat, and he has now reflected on the opportunity that could have been granted to him following Sterling’s big-money move to Manchester City.
In truth he has already proved that, with some impressive performances last season, but with just 17 first-team appearances under his belt for the Reds he will know there is still plenty of work to do.
Ibe has benefitted from loan spells at Derby County and Birmingham City in recent times but there is little chance he will be heading out of Anfield again, his importance made clear during Monday’s clash in Australia.
There is a feeling among some that Liverpool were not too disappointed to see Liverpool go because Ibe has the potential to become even better, and if that is the case it could be Reds fans who are smiling the widest in the years to come.
